PARDONS

A Pardon is an order of official forgiveness and is granted at the discretion of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles to individuals who have maintained a good reputation in their community following the completion of their sentence(s). A Pardon is an official statement attached to the criminal record which affirms that the state of Georgia has pardoned the crime. It does not expunge, remove, or erase the crime from your record. It may serve as a means for an applicant to advance in employment or education. A Pardon, by itself, does not restore any firearm rights. A Pardon may serve to benefit someone for employment or educational purposes. To be eligible, you must have completed all sentence(s) at least five (5) years prior to applying and have lived a law-abiding life since the completion of your sentence(s). You can have no pending charges and all previous fines must be paid in full. The main advantage in having a case Pardoned is so that you may request a record restriction from the sentencing court. A Pardon serves as a prerequisite for having a criminal conviction, and the corresponding information reported, restricted from your criminal history. A case that has been restricted is no longer publicly accessible and will not appear on a background check. This is especially useful for impediments to employment, housing, education, etc. Our office handles Pardon applications and subsequent record restrictions for affordable flat fees.
